Automatic Control and Robotics

PREDISPOSITIONS

Technical creativity, readiness for continuous expanding of knowledge, mathematical talents.

WHAT SUBJECT IS IMPORTANT TO PASS DURING A MATURITY EXAM?

A modern, foreign language and two subjects to choose from the following: mathematics, information technology, physics (with astronomy) chemistry, Polish language.

BASIC INFORMATION

The programme lasts 3 semesters in a daily full – time mode – S (on site) and 4 semesters in the part –time mode – NS (extramural).

They are completed with obtaining a Master’s degree (magister inżynier).

MAJOR

  • Steering systems in automation control and robotics (S, NS).

The degree programme is concentrated on specialist and curricular subjects and the main focus is placed on the education connected with a diploma path arranged around a wide range of selectable subjects.

The graduate of the second cycle degree is equipped with extensive and systematic knowledge in the area of theoretical issues covering: identification of linear and non – linear dynamic systems, modelling continuous and discreet steering systems, application of advanced steering techniques also basing on artificial intelligence methodology and tools as well as theory and methods of single and multiple criterion optimalizations.

Additionally, he/she possesses a thorough knowledge in the area of solving problems connected with steering with the use of programmable controllers PLC, design, building and optimization of robotics systems, applying modern information technology tools utilized in measurement tasks and SCADA systems.

The graduate also possesses programming skills of complex information technology systems with the use of modern, object – oriented programming languages. Apart from key areas connected directly with automatic control and robotics, the education degree programme enables the student to acquire elements of economy, management, sociology and law which create the overall skills of managing human resources in the units of industry and design and they influence the affectivity level of the implemented research works. An open character of many second degree student activities leads to the understanding of a continuous need to expand knowledge and develop professionally.

SKILLS

The Major in steering systems in automatic control and robotics is focused on educating in the area of:

  • application of broadly understood computer methods in steering and robotics,
  • design of micro processing steering systems of automats and robots,
  • design of computer control systems including distributed control systems using industrial computer networks,
  • identification, modelling and optimization of dynamic processes, synthesis of control algorithms including algorithms using artificial intelligence methods and evolution methods,
  • verification and validation of control systems with the use of simulation methods,
  • implementation and configuration of computer control systems in industrial installations.

CAREER AND EMPLOYMENT

The graduate of the second cycle degree is a very well qualified person to be employed in automation control / robotics job market or related area. His/her extended knowledge and practically acquired skills may be helpful in designing, implementing as well as exploitation of complex control systems.

He/she is a specialist whose knowledge and abilities enable to apply modern solutions from the area of controlling processes and their visualisation.

He/she possesses qualifications for people management and basic knowledge needed to conduct research work.

Therefore, the graduate may continue education connected with research work at the III cycle of degree programme (doctoral studies) performed at the Faculty of Electro technology, Automatic Control and Information Technology at the University of Technology in Opole.

The assessment granted by the National Accreditation Committee to the department guarantees a high level of education quality.
